The Costa Magica made her maiden voyage in 2004, and weighs in at 105,000 tons with a capacity for 2,672 passengers. There are 1,358 cabins on board, with around a quarter of them having private balconies, and 64 suites. The Costa Magica boasts plenty of art with a 'magic' theme adorning the public areas, with over 5,000 pieces on board including prints, vases, sculptures etc, and the decor has a lively yet elegant touch, but heavily influenced by the colourful parent line, Carnival. Features on board the Costa Magica include 13 passenger decks, 4 pools, a running track, tennis courts, internet centre, card room, library and a shopping promenade. The spa on board the Costa Magica, the Saturnia Spa, is almost 5,000 square feet and offers saunas and steam rooms and plenty of beauty treatments, as well as a well-equipped workout room. The Squok Club on the Costa Magica takes children from ages 3-12 and arranges a wide range of activities, and there is a separate area for teenagers.

Entertainment on the Costa Magica features dancing and nightly shows in lounges such as the Capri and Spolento, as well as the Urbino Theatre. There are 11 bars on the Costa Magica, with the large Salento Grand Bar the focus of all the social activity.
