Cruise to Corsica - Famous birthplace of Napoleon, plenty of historical sites
Corsica’s capital city, Ajaccio, is a wonderful mix of old and new, and the most popular port for many cruise ships. The harbour is home to plenty of waterside bars and cafes, and there are many historic sites to visit. Most famous for being the birthplace of Napoleon, Corsica has many attractions in Corsica dedicated to this famous leader, with numerous street names and plaques in his honour. Ajaccio is also home to a museum devoted to Napoleon, located in the house he was born in in 1769, and there is an impressive monument of the leader in the town. Other sites in Ajaccio also include the Fesch Museum, with its Renaissance art collection, and the 16th century Cathedral. Other popular attractions on Corsica include the prehistoric site of Filitosa, with its host of granite megalithic states, and Les Iles Sanguinaires, a group of four islands in the Gulf of Ajaccio, which are a sanctuary for rare flora and fauna.
